Passover is the foremost Holy Day of the Nation of Israel. In the observation we are brought into the remembrance of THE MOST HIGH GODS mercy in bringing us out of Egypt and "passing over" the children of Israel saving them from the plague of the death of the first born brought upon the Egyptians. Read Exodus 12 for a bit more history.
